Sri
Kalahasti
About 36 km from Tirupati is the great
Saivaite Temple of Sri Kalahasthiswara and Gnana Prasannambika in Sri Kalahasti. It also
dates from ancient times. In time it developed from a jungle shrine to its present
imposing size.
The main temple in the town is dedicated to
Sri Kalahasthiswara and Gnana Prasannambika .There is another of
Manikanteswara. There are also sculptures on a hill named Dakshina Kailasa. This hill is
curved in shape, and at some places in the Sri Kalahasthiswara temple, forms its walls. The
Swarnamukhi river flows by the temples.
